Windsor Swimming Club successfully hosted their own Open Meet at the Magnet pool last weekend. Over 30 clubs from across the country competed at this event, a capacity turnout to what was a very challenging gala.
Over 50 WSC swimmers competed, and achieved the top award with a massive medal tally of 44 Golds, 33 Silvers and 22 Bronze.
Top swimmer Alistair Bingham 11yrs won all 5 of his races in the 100m, 200m and 400m free –  in a stunning record time of 4.55.44. He then went on to win the 200IM 2.38.53 and 100m fly.
12 yrs Boys Alexander Farrell swept the board across all strokes, with wins in 100m back 1.10.48, 200m free 2.14.38 and 200m IM 2.34.11. His 400m IM time was truly spectacular in a record winning  5.26.14. He took silvers in the  100m and 400m Free, 100m and 200m back and 3rd placing in the 100m  breast.
Another top swimmer 13 yrs Patrick Flynn  likewise won golds in all 6 events namely the 100m and 200m back 1.09.54 and 2.31.38, 100m and 200m free 1.01.08 and 2.11.52. He won a  very fast 400m free 4.37.87 and  the 200IM for 2.34.51. Same age group Matthew Gilmour won his 200m fly 1.10 and came 2nd in the 100m free and back. Elliot Webb took a good PB in his 100m and won his 200m fly, with a close 2nd in the 100m fly. Neil Molloy came back to take bronze in the tough 400IM, whilst Darren Beaumont took a whopping  12 sec off his time in the 200m breast.
14yrs Robert Moran came 2nd in the 400IM, Tim Delaney toughed it out in the 100m free to take 4sec off his time.
15yrs Jonathan Naish kept his National form to win the golds across the board, 100m free for 55.62, he also won the 200m free just outside 2 mins for 2.01.26 and a further win in the 400m free 4.24.58. 1sts also in the 100m back 1.06.28. Richard Hau won his favoured 200IM 2.21.76 and 100m breast 1.16. 2nd placings in the 100m and 200m free, 200m breast and 400IM.
16yrs Daniel Sheehy 3 golds 100m free 55.64, 200m free , 100m back 1.03.13 and 2nd 100m fly.
Open swimmer Tom Norgate, limited in his entries due to status, still took on the 200m fly, and won it in a record time 2.08. Stefan Wuestner back from university won golds in the 200m and 400m free 4.15.44.
Girls youngest swimmer Emily Reeves 10yrs swam a very fast 200m breast and just missed the medals in 3.38.
11yrs talented medallist Alexandra Kaye swam PB’s across all strokes, storming to a record time in her 100m back for gold 1.14.83 and also 200m back 2.40.6. Further golds in the 200IM and 2ns in the 100m free, 3rd 400m free.  Sophie Naish showed tremendous form winning her 100m free in 1.08.57, she took silvers in the 100m and 200m back, 100m and 200m breast and bronze 200m free. Gymnast Lucy Campbell swam some awesome PB’s in all her events, to win silver in the 200m fly, and 3rd placings in the 100m and 200m back and 400IM. Danielle Moore swam a massive 19 sec PB in her 200m breast to finish in 4th place.
12 yrs Celeste Lindeque swam her weaker strokes and still  managed to gain silver 400IM and bronze in the 200IM and 100m free! Olivia Moore came 2nd in 100m and 200m breast, whilst Florence Claringbold came 3rd in the 200m breast. Georgia Morrison took a 2nd place in the gruelling 200m fly with Katie Molloy taking bronze
Strong PB’s from13yrs Grace Hopkins in her 100m back and Amy Cross in her 200m free. Sarah Kerbey PB in her freetsyle events.
14yrs star Nadia Farrugia swept to gold in the 200m free 2.15.26, taking silver in the 100m and 400m. In the backstroke she came 2nd - 100m and 200m and bronze in the 50m free. Close contender Alex Wiseman won the prestigious 50m free in sub 30 sec 29.21. She followed with 3rd placings in the 100m and 200m free and 200m fly.
Golden girl Amy McVeigh left no doubt, winning both the 100m and 200m back in 1.07.54 and 2.26, whilst Rebecca Moore won a bronze in the 200m breast.
15yrs Antonia Knowles won her 200m fly taking 3rd in the 100m. Catherine Holmes finished with silvers in the tough 400IM and 400m free.
16yrs Hannah Larson won her 100m breast and came 2nd in the 2oom breast and 200IM. 3rd’s in the 100m and 200m back. Ellie Straughan won her 200m breast, 200m back and IM.
17yrs Senior Anna Jemielity won the 200IM 2.26, 100m fly 1.09, 200m free 2.12 and 2nd 100m breast

Future events - the 12 yrs and unders will be racing in 2 weeks time in the Thames Valley Junior League at Magnet, while  the rest of the Club will be at Wycombe Open.
