Our 14/Over girls and 15/Over boys, competed in the key event of the season, before Nationals, the Southern Counties Youth Championships where the Club saw some very satisfying results from their Top and A squad swimmers.
Mark Harris 18yrs and over won both his sprint events, battling it out in the finals to win the 50m free for 24.25 and 50 fly 26.55, just missed out on the medals in the 100m free and back. Tom Norgate, competing in the 15/16yrs age group won silver in his 100m free for a sub 59.93, and bronze in the 100m fly a very fast 1.01.17.Just dipped medals for 4th 200m free and 6th in the 50m free 26.10. In the same group Dan Shinnie brought home a silver in the 50m fly 28.10, and 4th 50m back 29.10. James Stone swam consistently through his whole range of strokes, for a silver in the 200m breast and bronzes in the 200 and 400m IM events. Jonathan Naish gained another National time in the 50m free 26.28, he also swam a fast 800m 9.22 and 100m free finalist 57.23. Charles Munro battled back to take a fast 50m free 26.35 whilst Marcus Hau won bronze in the 200m breast final 1.16.40.
Girls Caroline Wroe, now storming back to fitness, won her 400m IM 5.07.07, with 3rd in the 800m 9.19, she also reached 3 finals for a 5th 200m back, 200 IM and 8th 50m fly. Emma Harris 18yrs over, sister of Mark Harris, won her 800m 9.29, with silvers in the 100m, 200m and 400m free, sister Rebecca also swam a fast 800m free in 9.33. 14/15 yrs age group Samantha Cross PB'd her 800m free 10.06 and 100m free 1.05.01, as did Antonia Knowles with a fast 50m free 30.20.
Catherine Holmes reached the final for the 200m breast to finish 8th in a PB, Amy Mcveigh took 4th place in her 50m back for 32.92 whilst Anne Maria Clifford and Nadia Ferrugia both did well in their sprint events.
