SOUTH EAST BAGCATS 2009 FINAL WEEKEND

On Saturday 13th/Sunday 14th June, some Windsor swimmers travelled again to Crawley for the 2nd week of the South East Bagcats and were rewarded some more excellent swims.

Windsor swimming club had a fantastic finish to the South East Regional British Age Group Categories (BAGCAT) Championships during the last 2 days of racing in Crawley over the weekend. Alistair Bingham (13) showed his strength in long distance swimming and won a bronze medal in the 1500m freestyle event in a time of 19.14.81. The girls (age 11-13) 4x100m freestyle team of Lucy Campbell (12), Alexandra Kaye (12), Florence Claringbold (13) and the teams youngest swimmer 11- year old Rebecca Dutfield who swam the last leg superbly in a new personal best time of 1.07 taking the team into a bronze position in a line-up of very strong competition from the whole of the south east of England. The girls also had individual swims to concentrate on and Florence Claringbold (13) showed great form and speed by gaining a National Qualifying Time in the 100 meters breaststroke in a time of 1.19.11 placing 4th.  Florence  also swam in the 200 breaststroke finishing in a 5th position in a new personal best time .Lucy Campbell (12) had a weekend of racing freestyle and managed to win 4th place in both the 1500 meters freestyle and 200 meters freestyle and a 7th place in the 800 meters freestyle event. Rebecca Dutfield (11) rounded of her weekend of successful racing in the 200 meters freestyle finishing 5 th in a new personal best time of 2.25.31.
