Club Rules and Constitution

Membership:

  1. Types of membership shall be as follows:- Junior Membership – Members of the competitive squads under the age of 16 years.  Senior Membership – Members of the competitive squads and non swimming Members 16 years of age and over.  Honorary Membership – Voluntary Teachers and Coaches, Assistants, Pool side helpers, ASA gala officials etc., who do not qualify otherwise for membership may be granted Honorary Membership by the Management Committee as necessary, reviewed on an annual basis.  Life Membership – Members who have given exemplary service to the Club may be nominated for Life Membership, with full supporting case, to the Management Committee, whose decision will be final and no reason given for the rejection of an nomination.  Associate Membership – Members of the Teaching and Development Groups. Associate Membership may also be granted by the Management Committee, on such terms as they may determine, to other individuals, clubs or associations.
  2. Candidates for non swimming Senior Membership shall be proposed and seconded by existing Senior members and elected, upon application , by the Management Committee, whose decision shall be final and no reason given to any candidate on the occasion of non election.  Details of all such elections to membership shall be recorded in the Management Committee meeting minutes.

  3. The membership subscription, which is separate from the ASA membership fee, shall be set for each category by the Management Committee and advised to the membership, before implementation, at the next General Meeting.  Each Junior Membership will entitle one parent or guardian to be a voting member of the Club without charge by the Club, provided the parent or guardian holds the relevant ASA membership.

  4. A list of names, addresses and telephone numbers of all categories of Club members shall be maintained, updated and preferably kept on a proprietary database system by the Management Committee.  The Hon. Secretary shall keep a hard disc copy.  The information shall be held and used in accordance with the current data protection legislation.

  5. At any General Meeting of the Club all Senior, Honorary and Life members shall be entitled to a vote.  Parent(s) or Guardian(s) of Junior members shall be entitled to one vote per Junior member up to a maximum of two.  Parent(s) or Guardian(s) of Teaching and Development Group Associate members shall be entitled to one vote per family.  Voting entitlement shall be subject to the member, or guardian voting on behalf of the member, holding the relevent category of ASA membership.  Each Junior Membership will entitle one parent or guadian to be a voting member of the Club without charge by the Club, provided the parent or guardian holds the relevant ASA Membership.

  6. Copies of the Rules and Regulations will be made available to all Members via the Club Noticeboard, the Website, and hard copies may be obtained by request from the Club Secretary.
